Book suggestions wanted!

I'm on page 914 and have almost exactly 100 pages to go! Woohoo!

I have loved this book! I'm not sure if it's considered a sequel to Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. It is the same village in 14th century England as the first book, only 200 years later and these are the descendants of the original characters. I know I'll finish it before the weekend.

Now my dilemma... what to read next? This is why I'm posting this today. I'd like some suggestions for a good read. And I will read one of the books that someone suggests.

Fictional history is my favorite genre, but I find that I can't read too many books in a row that are too similar. Some of my favorite authors are: John Grisham, Nelson DeMille, James Michener, Anne Rice, Dan Brown, Stephen King, Pearl Buck and James Patterson.

Dallas has a great chain store called Half Price Books. You can turn in your old books for a small discount and then get used hardcover books for a fraction of the cost of some other major chains! I prefer hardcover to paperbacks any day!! I'll be headed to a store this weekend and I know I'll be there for hours like I always am! And I usually leave with a stack of good books to read.

Please leave me a comment with a few favorite books. I want to be well armed when I hit Half Price Books!

Thanks!

Fictional history is my favorite genre, too. And I loved those two books! I read the first one on a snowy Christmas Day, and still count that as one of my best Christmases ever.

If you haven't read "Sarum" or "London" by Edward Rutherford, you've definitely got to make one of them your next read.

Otherwise, I would suggest a different book (and genre). I just finished "Olive Kitteridge", and highly recommend it.

Something different- find Malevil by Robert Merle- the first 60 pages are a trudge to get through, then the book becomes very interesting
