I would sell my diet and fitness book. I think I mentioned before that in June 2000 I went on a major diet and exercise plan. I read the Fitness For Life book and took what worked for me; a strict diet and exercise plan for 6 days of the week. I 1 took day off from the diet and the gym.
Along the way from 225 lbs to 175 I learned a few things.
- One must keep at it! One does not gain weight over a few weeks so why do we expect to take it off that fast?
- Also, one must be consistent. 6 days a week for as long as it takes you to get to your goal weight, not just 4 days a week or every other day.
- Another one; eat better, which means more fruits and vegetables. And no soda, not even diet sodas. Water!
- Even when you're not at the gym you need to get us and move. If there are stairs available to take instead of an elevator, take the stairs! If there isn't someone standing on an escalator blocking you, walk up the escalator stairs! Or instead of driving around a parking lot looking for an open spot near the door park way out in the lot and walk a few extra steps. Every little bit helps.
Well, buy my book if you want to know more! LOL
When I was at the gym tonight the scales were truthful... and it hurt! I'm weighing in just under 190lbs. I know I was focused on other things the last couple of months, but I'm starting back on the strict diet tomorrow!

I wish mine said #190. But the diet and exercise is what I need, if only beauty wasa pill away.
I'd buy that book! You're right btw....we don't put weight on overnight so assuming we'll lose it in a short amount of time isn't realistic. I also did the Body For Life plan after I had a back problem and my weight ballooned. I lost a ton of weight. Keep at it!
my intuition says diet sodas are bad, but I don't know the science behind it - please explain!
