Darren said "give me a few minutes to draw this and then tell me what you think." I sat down and started texting my friends; "OMG, I'm waiting to get a tattoo!" The drawing was perfect, exactly what I wanted. The tattoo artist Darren also caught my vision with the shading.
How do I feel about it two years later? I love it!
I had been thinking about getting one for years! Finally I decided on a Celtic Knot. I have some Celtic blood and its part of my renaissance costume, but this had to have meaning and be unique. I finally found the picture and I realized it was full of symbolism.
I believe there were 3 different parts to life. There has to be a balance in all, all parts have to work together to make the picture. For me they are my health, my work and my love/social life. I know I have to not only work on my physical health, but also my spiritual and mental. There is also the connection of God, myself and others. And then the relationship with me and my parents. There are many aspects of life that are woven together to make a perfect picture and this knot represented all of this.
I really do love it! The next one I get (my 3rd one) has to have a meaning as this one does. Maybe a Kiwi (the bird not the fruit, LOL) over my heart? (It would symbolize that I'm a Kiwi at heart; New Zealand is where I served my mormon mission) Maybe another Celtic Knot arm band...?? Maybe some Indian pictograph for my Utah heritage.... I've got to be sure its something I will love.

as a medical man, I am glad you put it on a body part not likely to have an IV or surgical site.
THere is a lot of fuss these days of people coming into ER needing much needed help, only to holler and fuss they want their beloved tatoos untouched. Often they are right in the way of a medical procedure.
I have three as well. Love them all. A tribal tribal for wisdom. A Cross outline for spirit. A smurf for inner happiness. My next will be a snake for my zodiac sign.
Suppose to be tribal dragon! Oops!
Oh... and the inverted triangle is to symbolize my gay family!
I love them.
I have six.
Chinese symbols for Compassion, Friendship, Peace and Truth, along with a strand of barbed wire, and a Yin/Yang symbol. Love them!
