Last year I went to a Hanukkah party at some friend's home and I got to experience some foods and traditions of the holiday.
We played a few games of dreidel, I walked away with a nice cache of chocolate coins. They also made latkes, I loved latkes! Yum!
These traditions are not unfamiliar to me. I lived in Baltimore, MD for about 7 years in the mid 80's and early 90s. Baltimore has the second largest population of Jewish people outside of Brooklyn, NY. I worked in Owing Mills almost the center of the community. I really wished I would've learned more Yiddish, I only picked up a few words, and of course the accent.
Oy vey!!
