But I don't trust this app... it comes up with some weird words. One word it allows for itself is "QI" which I googled and it's a Chinese word!

I play this a lot on Facebook. And, yes, Qi is allowed there too. It must be in the "official" Scrabble dictionary.
You should also check out "Words with Friends." It's scrabble, but you can play online with friends and strangers.
It has strange words too :)
