In 2004 I was living in an apartment in east Dallas. It was right next to a golf course, the botanical gardens, a natural undeveloped area and Whiterock Lake. I loved living close to nature in the middle of the city.
Whiterock Lake is a reservoir about 8 or so miles east of downtown Dallas. It is surrounded by about 13 miles of bike/running trails and is well used by the citizens of the city. There is a marathon around the lake, music festivals and lots of activities going on in the area. It also borders on the Arboretum, another favorite place of mine. Can you see why I loved living near the lake? Many evenings I would either go biking around the lake or just walking with my camera.
There was a music festival at the Arboretum in late April and many people came out on the trails and lawn to listen to the jazz. I noticed some people in their kayaks and small sail boats dropping anchor to listen to the music as well. I turned around, saw this scene and snapped a few pictures.
This picture is one of my favorites. I consider this a lucky shot in that so many elements came together at the perfect time. I feel lucky that I got to capture this scene and to soak in the beauty.

like central park in NYC...a green oasis from the city noise...have you ever considered photography as a sideline?
Beautiful!
