Random Question Wednesday

If you received an award as a child tell about it.

I don't remember winning an award when I was a child but I did receive an award as a high school senior.

1979 was the year I graduated. I did OK in school, was on the honor roll, but not straight A's like my middle brother. I somehow seemed to always get one B from a class; math one year, english the next, it varied from year to year. So imagine my surprise when the principal called me into his office to congratulate me and told me to start preparing a speech for the graduation ceremony. I was the Valedictorian! Along with this award was a full year scholarship to BYU!

What? Me? Middle brother was the Valedictorian in his class the year before, did they mix something up?

Nope, I had the highest GPA in the class! A close friend, who I always considered smarter than me, was the Salutatorian. It seemed that she never liked the physical education classes and never made a good grade there. Wow! Who knew...? YAY me!

I prepared the speech and practiced with the Speech and Drama teacher quite a lot. During graduation, while giving the speech, I remember seeing my mom get up from her seat, walk up near the front and take this picture!

Oh, did I forget to mention, there were only 30 people in my graduating class! This next picture is the entire class! LOL

I told y'all I am from a very small town.

Wow, that's awesome of you giving speech in front of people.
I actually got many awards and scholarships, not every year of course. The latest one was a full scholarship from Australian Governments to study two years of master degree in Australia. That's so wonderful :)

I received some sort of good conduct prize when I was a lad; I found a wallet/turned it in, and was recognized for being virtuous.
