Do I have to narrow it down to one?
There are lots of movies I like and for different reasons. I mostly like the "indy" films better than mainstream Hollywood. Most of those are too predictable, I know what is going to happen about half way through the movie.
If it is a Hollywood movie that I like, it will be about something that makes me think and ponder it after. Also, if I like a movie I'll buy it when it comes out on video.

feel good dancing musical - singing in the rain or an american in paris
movie that showcases my hometown - rocky
cult movie - harold and maude
movie that nods in the direction of my ancestors - a hard days night
I forgot about Kung Fu Hustle! That was a great movie.
