The holiday is a festival of the hearth and home, and a celebration of the lengthening days and the early signs of spring.
Think of Imbolc as Thanksgiving celebration for what is about to happen. Have a drink and a feast, knowing that winter is passing and that food will once again be growing and plentiful.
It's 20 degrees and icy in Dallas today. I'm OK with that if it means Spring will be coming sooner! I'll open and enjoy a bottle of Lambic with a nice dinner tonight!
And Happy Groundhog Day tomorrow.

Too busy with that pesky thing called "life" to really celebrate Imbolc today, but it's on my calendar for Saturday. Heck, I might start Thursday night even. I've got a hankerin' for a bottle of cheap champaign. We're having the year's first worst rain storm tonight, so if legend has anything to do with it, spring will be here soon.
Thanks for the lesson! :)
Hope you are staying warm in Big-D ... it's cold as s--t here in Austin...and the wind makes it painful. I can only image what you are dealing with, but I may find out soon. Saying we will get snow on Friday morning.
Happy Imbolc, Jim! We'll be celebrating by making crêpes, a French tradition on 2/2. It's a catholic thing, but we ignore that part. ;)
I was hoping you would post this.
Back in the midwest, on this day, while the winter winds howled outside, I would start my early type tomatoes in the basement. Today's the day to plant the seeds. I miss this ritual.
