I realized when I got this question that I have not been to the movies for a very long time, so any that I have seen have not been very recent.

And then there is the part about enjoying a recent movie.
I saw The Social Network when it was in the theaters, it made me think, but I really didn't enjoy or particulary like it. The last movie I saw before that was Avatar. I liked most of it until they went to war. I really hate movies about war. I do not like violent movies at all.
I guess the last movie that I saw, liked and enjoyed watching was The Hangover. I can hardly wait for the new one to come out later this month. I liked it because it was fun, something unexpected was always happening and Bradley Cooper. YUM!
What recent movies have y'all enjoyed?

Jim, though you know Stan and I don't go to the theater, I did recently see a film with a friend. We went to see Hanna, which I really enjoyed. It was fun watching a younger, female assassin kick ass. It didn't hurt that I got to see Eric Bana.
I read your post and thought about it a while then came back to comment, and I see that Kyle stole my movie!
I like Hanna very much too. I didn't want to go see it at first. A little girl superspy? Really?
But the plot turned out to be more complex than I predicted with a few interesting and unexpected twists, and the acting was great. I don't know who that young female actor was, but one thing's for sure, she's going to have a great career.
"the king's speech" because it was a semi-documentary and historical and I am of british heritage on my father's side.
FYI - youtube has the ending scene REAL SPEECH. as you listen to the king speaking, you can hear the pauses and the difficulty he had trying to overcome the stutter.
Thor 3D
Because it's just a great movie. There were Natalie Portman who I wanted to watch and then I discovered Chris Hemsworth, super cute.
Wow. I don't even remember the last movie I saw in the theatre. Because I hate how people act in them anymore.
I do kind of want to see "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides". But I don't know if I'll brave the theatre for it.
It was over a year that I was last at the movies - I think it was Avatar that was my last movie in Dec 2009, But this weekend I couldn't get enough - I saw Thor on Saturday and Rio on Sunday and now I'm going Friday to see Bridesmaid - I got bitten by the movie bug!
I recently liked Thor, for I could smirk at all the incorrect Norse mythos while still ogling the flat abds.
Avatar was the last movie I saw in the theater mainly because I wanted to see it in 3-D. I saw it three times at the theater. Generally I don't like to go to movie theaters because the people who talk during the movie ruin the experience for me. I rent DVD's from Netflix which works fine for me. I saw "The Social Network". Couldn't finish watching it. I found it boring. I don't like violence either and I usually stop the DVD when the movie gets too violent. But violence in context, like "The Gladiator", I can handle. I too like Bradley Cooper. Yum indeed.
I just saw Bridesmaids today... but didn't like it... I guess that doesn't fit into your question though :(
I enjoyed watching Moulin Rouge last Saturday night...not actually because of the movie, but, because of the company...
