With eyes closed is the best way to look at the soul.

~Victor Hugo

The title of this blog post is a quote from Les Miserables.
This week I finally finished reading it.

It seemed like I would never get through all 1194 pages. I've been reading it since the beginning of June. But I made it... and I absolutely loved it. I have seen the musical twice, so even though I knew how it ended I still thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

I remember seeing it for the first time in London. I really had never even heard much about the book but the musical moved me to tears. Needless to say, the book ending was even more emotional for me than the play. But that is good... here is another quote from the book: "He who does not weep does not see."

(the only full version of the finale I could find had these sub-titles) :-/

Next book: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

We had to read Les Miserable in a high school lit class. I ADORED the book and bawled several times in it.

But yes, the reunion of Cosette, Marius and Jean on his death bed... OMG. Niagara Falls.

I cheated - I 'read' Les Miz via Books on Tape. I remember it took several car trips to do. The death of cosette lasted from Chicago to Kalamazoo. Lordy was that a long detailed death scene !

"I sing one song and then I die!" re-written mega-hit song from Forbidden Broadway.

I have to say loved the book, HATED the musical. H.A.T.E.D it. I know, I know - take away my gay membership card.
